grosse déception...

... pour un livre qui avait autant d'étoiles !

Livre complètement décousu : les personnages sont présentés d'une certaine façon, et agissent de façon tout à fait différente. Le héros est sensé être badass, intimidant et rebelle... mais c'est un mec plus que normal, tout gentil.
L'héroïne supplie le héros de ne pas virer sa copine de par sa faute ; il lui propose alors de le dépanner, et en échange, il ne virera pas la copine, et au lieu de dire, "ok, merci", elle commence à négocier, à l'insulter sans se soucier des conséquences de ses actes... bref, virage à 180° de la meuf qui suppliait 2 secondes auparavant le gars !
On ne voit pas du tout ce que le héros peut trouver à l'héroïne, à part qu'elle bosse bien et qu'elle jure comme un charretier. Apparemment, une jolie femme qui jure, c'est la classe absolue pour lui !
Et puis les clichés s'enchainent et se ressemblent : il l'aime bien parce qu'elle lui parle franchement alors que les autres lui font de la lèche, c'est rafraichissant (prend un mentos, ça fera pareil !), évidemment, il est excité quand elle jure...

Je suis allée voir les commentaires négatifs, et là, qu'est-ce que j'apprends : non seulement, les clichés ne s'arrêtent pas là, mais en plus : c'est un cliffhanger !!! Non, merci, ça va mieux, ça m'a passé : j'ai abandonné cette lecture décousue et totalement immature à 15% !

I liked the softer side Gia brings out in this man who is usually tough and arrogant and liked the friendship that built and the connection between Gia & Rush. But there was the usual irritating double standards between his sexual experience vs her sexual experience plus he still managed to be jealous despite Gia only having 1 partner in the previous year.
Also I guessed 'the twist' straight away.
I know he is a 'Rebel' but on this day and age I can't find anything attractive in making a main character a smoker but I still picked it to read despite the cover model with a cigarette. He is hot! I'll read the 2nd book in series.

Heathcliff Rushmore or Rush as he likes to be known as was brought up by his mum she became pregnant whilst dating the man of her dreams only to discover he was already married . His biological father wanted nothing to do with him but his paternal grandfather found out about his existence and saw to it that he had an a share of his inheritance after his death which did not please his father . Although he only sees his father and half brother during board meetings Rush prefers to live in the Hamptons where he owns several properties and a very profitable bar/ restaurant . One thing is for certain he’s a total player and with the sexy bad boy image he has no trouble getting girls but that all that’s set to change . Gia ex greeting card writer and now budding author is staying in a shared house with her best friend Riley , her aim is to write her novel that’s been commissioned if she doesn’t deliver by the deadline than she has to repay the money she be given and already spent . With no permanent man in tow she just has a one night stand with a rather handsome man who left her with a name and phone number which were false . Gia meets Rush when she’s covering the shift at the bar for her best friend Riley she doesn’t realise that he’s the owner . Having never done any sort of bar work before she’s absolutely useless but instead of chucking her out Rush offers her a job as a hostess in the restaurant . Gia gratefully accepts his offer at least now she’ll be earning some money it’s also pretty evident that there’s also a very strong sexual attraction bubbling up between the two of them. Sadly for Gia , Rush is not interested in a relationship especially with an employee he only wants sex with no strings attached. Can these two overcome deep seated issues and give in to their attraction, with book one ending on an OMG moment it’s sure to be a rollercoaster ride in book two ...... can’t wait to read it .😍😍

OMG this book right from the start grabs you, shakes you and certainly won't let go. GIa is smart, sassy and determined to write her book, Rush is a gorgeous, arrogant, sexy, alpha and boy does Gia push his buttons. I mean who wouldn't get annoyed when this beauty is stood behind your bar totally wrecking the drink orders and losing you customers lol I mean of course the solution is to give her a job, of course just not one behind the bar. These two characters are slowly drawn to one another and it's not long before searing passion is crackling between the two, but can Rush let his guard down? He's not one to let people in, certainly not a girl who's only here for the summer. But what has happened to Gia? She's in a whole heap of trouble and now it's too late cos she's fallen for Rush. A family reunion is gonna set off fireworks that the fourth of July just can't compete with.

If only I could use expletives it would truly emphasise my current feelings for this book. I have been completely and utterly engrossed and I imagine if I didn’t have work today I would have stayed up until I finished it. I couldn’t wait to get up this morning, I actually read it while getting ready for work. Which, my make up is not thanking me for.

I’m totally and utterly crushing on the main characters, they are so perfect. Gia being outspoken and being a natural beauty you just can’t help but envy her, but love her at the same time. Rush seems a typically irresistible bad guy gone good... or is she a good girl gone bad. Who knows. You’ll have to read it.

Very good plot twist too. My jaw literally hit the floor at the end and had me spiralling to find the next book.

Will definitely read more from this author. Very easy flow to the book which is exciting, engaging and very unique despite the cliche genre. Only thing, I’m very curious to find out about Gias book, maybe it’ll come to light in the next book. Who knows, I certainly couldn’t predict what’s about to go down.

This is my first book from these authors and wow!! They did not let me down!!

Gia is an author who has moved to The Hamptons for the summer for inspiration for her book.
Her friend, and roommate, Riley works at a bar and restaurant called The Heights and asks her to cover her shift because her sister has gone into labour.

Rush is the owner of said bar and is feared by his staff because of his no nonsense attitude. He’s got a dirty mouth and mind and he’s hot as hell!!
He meets Gia and sparks fly instantly. She’s not afraid of him and gives as good as she gets.

I’m not going to give anything away...other than it ends on a cliffhanger (which becomes obvious the closer you get to the end of the book) but the conclusion is out in a month so you don’t have to wait forever to find out.
