Nick Hudson is looking for Lyriope after she escaped his house. She's fled to Italy under the guise of protecting Nick from a possible war over her. When he catches up to her, he decides they're going to stay in Italy for awhile and he'll host a Wonderland party in the Pope's bunker. As they spend time together, their relationship begins to blossom and they promise to never be apart again. But outside forces threaten to tear them apart forever.
Queen of Hearts is book two in the trilogy and continues Nick and Lyriope's story. Nick continues to be my favorite thing in about this series. He's smart, cunning, and utterly obsessed with Lyriope. He's a little unhinged, which is my favorite quality in a fictional man. I love how obsessed and in love Nick is. He hasn't said it yet, but he demonstrates his love in so many different ways throughout this story. Lyriope continues to annoy me. I can't stand how whiney and weak she comes across. I want her to stand up for herself and be the strong woman Nick saw the first time he met her.
This exchange between Nick and Lyriope at the end broke my heart because of the significance of him saying her debt was paid off 🥲

This book is more then 5 🌟. It is so delicious you can't put it down. Alta Hensley has created a world that you won't want to leave. The spice is 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶️ 🌶 and alot of blushing.
Nick and Lyropie are playing a game that neither one knows the rules to any more. And when the world tears them apart the panic is real. The war is just starting and the prize at the end is Lyropie. Nick must turn the tables in his favor with all his magic and Cheshire ways. Lyropie has to figure out how to be a Queen in trouble but a Queen never the less.
This book ends on a small cliff hanger. Which I did enjoy becuase it made me say out loud "how long till Oct?" I did not thing Alta Hensley could top "King of Spades" but she has with "Queen of Hearts". Dare I hope that "Ace of Diamonds" outshines them both.
