» - Cintia, Goodreads
« Un véritable joyau. » - Lily, Goodreads
Renowned cardiologist Carter Rogers is used to having things under control. His life, his prestigious reputation, his career, his future.
Things he can’t control this time around:
• His meddling grandfather
• His annoying gamer cousin
• Buggy South American jungles
• Being the meat in a feuding cartel sandwich
• Getting kidnapped by a monologuing drug lord
•Falling for his very hot, very mouthy ex-Special Forces bodyguard
In short, Carter’s peaceful, well-planned life has been… hijacked.
Once upon a time, I moved to Vermont… and wound up accidentally sort of married.
Webb Sunday is the straight single dad next door.
He’s lumberjack-gorgeous,
Strong and steady as the trees in his family orchard,
A grumpy fairytale prince...
And entirely off-limits.
Or so I thought.
Until the drunken night the two of us walked into a bar…
And landed ourselves in the middle of small-town history.
Who knew hand-fasting was still a thing?
The town of Little Pippin Hollow did.
And once this bunch of meddling Vermonters gets wind of our accidental betrothal, they are determined to see us seal the deal.
But while the chemistry between us is hot enough to melt the winter cold, Webb isn’t interested in a relationship…
And I’m not sure how long I can keep pretending I don’t want our hand-fasting to be real.
Because while the man might not be the happily ever after I came to Vermont for…
He’s looking more and more like the one who’s been hand-picked for me.
There are three kinds of people in Honeybridge, Maine: The Honeycutts, who know a lot about love and loyalty; The Wellbridges, who think they’re the epitome of wealth and refinement; and the rest of the Honeybridgers, who know better than to get in the way of the centuries-old rivalry between the two.
There wasn’t a time when I didn't know Flynn “Firecracker” Honeycutt.
He’s been my childhood friend. My high school rival. The guy I couldn’t stop dreaming about, long after I thought I’d left him and Honeybridge in my rear-view mirror.
Now he’s the key to the giant promotion that can make or break my career… if I can just convince the man to give me the distribution rights for his award-winning mead.
Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done.
Flynn’s not the guy he used to be. His gorgeous eyes used to spark with dreams and fire, but now he looks at me with cold fury. And just like Achilles had his heel and Samson had his hair, I had Flynn Honeycutt, the one man I’d never been able to charm, despite an entire life spent winning people over.
I’m not giving up, though. Because I’m not the kid I used to be, either. And because, if the two of us can survive a long, hot summer filled with his family’s crazy antics and my mother’s single-handed determination to keep the Wellbridge-Honeycutt feud alive, there might just be a chance for both of us to get what we want:
A new dream.
The fulfillment of an old town legend.
And another chance to spark Firecracker to life.
Once upon a time, Pop Honeycutt nicknamed me Daydreamer… but that was a long while ago. As in, two doomed art degrees, one soul-crushing break-up, and an epic disgrace ago.
Nowadays, I’m plain old PJ Honeycutt.
A failure.
And let me tell you, if there’s anything worse than having your childhood dreams die a painful death, it’s being forced to crawl back to your hometown to ride out the shame. If the weight of the Honeybridgers’ disapproving stares doesn’t suffocate me, their sympathy just might.
Fortunately for me, there’s a new guy in town this season, and his offer of a short-term fling might be the only thing that saves my sanity.
Kit Marlowe came to Honeybridge to get away from the world. He’s broad-shouldered, brawny, and sexy-as-all-heck, he takes photographs that tell entire stories, and he’s way more interested in how I kiss than in getting all the gory details of my fall from grace.
In fact, Kit has just one rule for our non-relationship, and it’s as perfect as the rest of him: we don’t talk about our pasts. Not ever. And it turns out, this blank canvas is exactly what I need .
Before I know it, I’m painting again.
I’m living again.
And despite our agreement, I can’t help but fantasize about the most audacious daydream ever–one where he and I end up together, despite all the unspoken truths that threaten to tear us apart.
My mother calls me incorrigible. My dad calls me a train wreck. Even my big brother thinks I’m spoiled.
But once upon a time, when I was eight years old, old Pop Honeycutt at the General Store looked at me and gave me the nickname Mr. Important… and I believed him.
That was my mistake. Because it turns out, there’s nothing very important about me, no matter how hard I try to be the guy everyone wants me to be.
Not my grades. Not my charm. Not my job prospects.
And this winter, I decided I’ve had enough.
The Honeybridge Winter Ball is the perfect place to blow off steam, to be the person I want to be, at least until the clock strikes midnight. And a quickie with the mysterious man in the silver mask–the hot control freak whose deep growls and effusive praise make me feel like the hottest guy at the party–seems like the perfect way to achieve that.
But of course nothing works out the way I planned, and when the masks come off, my one-night stand with an anonymous stranger becomes the most awkward encounter of my entire life.
Because the bossy guy who blew my mind? Is my best friend’s father.
And, more horrifyingly, my father’s friend.
There is no way a billionaire silver fox like Thatcher Pennington could want a hopeless nobody like me, even if he makes me feel like I’m finally Mr. Important.
Tucker Wright’s Clues for Life:
What’s a 4-letter word for an utterly oblivious, totally commitment-phobic, heartbreakingly gorgeous man with a pet pig named Bernadette?
That’d be D-U-N-N, as in Dunn Johnson, my very best pal and fishing buddy since I moved to Licking Thicket.
What’s a 6-letter word for a nerdy, crossword-loving town doctor who’s doomed to be hopelessly, thoroughly, irrevocably, in love with that straight best friend for the rest of his born days?
That’s T-U-C-K-E-R, as in me.
But when I agree to let Dunn be my 24/7 dating coach, and he decides to get our whole nosy town in on the act, there’s only one 5-letter word to describe the pair of us.
F-O-O-L-S.
Parrish Partridge’s True Facts:
There’s nothing hotter than a tall, gruff, bewildered, tattooed mountain of a man cuddling a sweet, orphaned baby, so you can tell yourself that you’ll resist him...
But that’s a lie.
And when that man asks you to do him a favor and pretend to be his very temporary, very fake fiance to help him get custody of that adorable baby, you can pretend you know better than to say yes…
But that’s a lie, too.
And when you actually get to know your kind, strong, pullet-loving prince of a fiance, and all his crazy, lovable, meddling neighbors, you can tell yourself you’re not really falling for Diesel Church and the town of Licking Thicket…
But that might be the biggest lie of all.
