Excellent book for discussing a sensitive subject

This book covers everything your little person needs to know in a really well thought out order and easy to understand language. It Covers everything from anatomy and physiology, basics of sex, masturbation, Birth, adoption, termination, contraception, importance of consent and age appropriate relationships, good touch and bad touch, heterosexual and homosexual relationships and even discusses HIV and AIDS..
I bought this book as I'm currently pregnant and wanted to be well armed with good age appropriate info when my 9 year old girl asked the inevitable question "how did the baby get in there". We started the book at the beginning (often a good place to start) and each evenings we read the book together till the end. It was an excellent book to read together and lead to some very interesting and open discussion. I highly recommend using this book when the time comes for "the talk".

Great sex education book for primary aged children

I have recommended this book to several people as I think it's a really great book to teach kids about "the birds and the bees"... narrated by a bird and a bee! Probably not one to buy if you are only looking for the very basic "biological" facts as it's very comprehensive, even covering issues that some would consider difficult topics for younger children, but I feel it approaches them in a very age appropriate way and keeps things factual and easy to understand. These are all the kinds of issues they might hear about from others or will ask questions about, so it makes sense to have something they can refer to that gives them the facts in an unbiased & understandable way.

At the time my kids were 7 & 9 and it felt like about the right level for them. I now have a preschooler who has had a look at this book and I have explained sections of it to her, it is probably a little bit over her head in places but it's certainly not unsuitable for kids that age.

I have been reading this with my 8 year old boy over the last couple of weeks. It talks about puberty, what changes to expect and at around what ages, which was the bit I was most keen to explain with my son. It obviously touches on sexual intercourse but in a very simple way and only in two pages of the book. It then goes on to talk very specifically about eggs/sperm and how the baby develops in the womb and how it is born. There are little cartoons throughout which are generally quite lighthearted, but we haven't really read those. In my opinion, this is an excellent book for explaining about puberty and how babies are made, but does not get too much into sex itself - I have the 'Lets talk about sex' book in the top of the wardrobe for a couple of years time when that becomes more the issue!!

I brought this book for my 9 year old daughter based on someones review and it didn't disapoint. It was just at the right introduction level for a 8-10 yr old for boys or girls as it talks about both sexes. It covers a variety of topics - where babies come from, puberty (girls and boys), basic understanding sex although not going into too much detail etc without going too technical but uses alot comman words and nicknames used by children of that age. Its well presented book with cartoon style pictures in places. would definatly reccomend this book against lots of the other girl books available and have also purchased for a later date book called lets talk about sex which appears as well done as this book.

My sister is currently pregnant which has raised endless questions from my 8 year old son; which to be perfectly honest, I had no idea how to answer! After reading reviews of quite a few books on offer, I opted for this one and I'm really pleased I did. I'd wondered beforehand if an 8 year old could handle the 'truth', but this book is written in a completely non-judgemental way, in extremely simple to understand language - all the while leaving nothing to the imagination... and so pleased it's got me out of answering awkward questions (as I now just skip to that section and read the answer directly from the book!)

My son is almost 10 years old and getting to that age where he is becoming more aware of his body and hormones. I found this book to provide all the vital information that I wish I could have been given in one book as a child! Hormones, Periods, Girls bodies, Boys bodies, Conception, Pregnancy, Sex, Same sex relationships etc. My son said he found this a really good book and that it answered many questions for him. It also enabled us to talk about things together whilst looking through the book. Even if you get this for your child and they don't look at it for whatever reason, if left on the shelf I am sure it will prove a worthy purchase eventually.

Brought this book for my 10 year old daughter based on existing reviews and was not disappointed. Well written in a way that children can under stand, nice pictures, nothing too graphic and quite funny. Personally I found the bird and bee a little annoying but my daughter loved it. She was very happy to sit and read though with me and can look at it on her own if she wishes and I am, now, comfortable with explaining the subject of babies and bodies with her with the help of this book.

Bought this for my 10 year old daughter. Read it first myself and have decided to leave given it to her for until she's a little older as I personally feel its a little too informative for her at present but will definitely give to her to read & discuss the future.

Brought for my 9 year old, wanted a book to.explain things to him, the right way. As he was hearing all sorts in the playground we had the talk but I felt he was really embarrassed. So I've given him the book to read and told him he can ask if he's unsure. No graphic pictures, all cartoons and explains things the biological way very informative. Highly recommend
