Lire Juan est toujours un plaisir, d'autant que cela complète parfaitement ses vidéos sur youtube. On apprend tellement tout en se divertissant. 2 choses positives : je comprends assez facilement et l'intrigue est pleine de suspense ! Après une première commande de 4 livres, j 'en re-commande 3 !

je suis une fidèle des podcast de juan sur youtube. c'est un exellent professeur,dynamique,amusant qui nous explique toujours les mots nouveaux et les expressions en contexte . ce livre est le reflet de son enseignement : amusant,divertissant et avec de nombreuses expressions à utiliser dans notre quotidien.
j ai lu ce livre quasiment d un traît

The B2 upper intermediate level rating is about right, but I'd suggest those at B1 or C1 would still benefit from the phrases and clear explanations. The book is very much in Juan's style, as with his YouTube videos which I've watched over the past five years. This is learning Spanish in context and you'll find that phrases at the beginning often cleverly reappear later in the book as unintrusive checks that they've been absorbed. As for the story, without spoilers it's a kind of Hammer horror, not too scary and with sufficient twists to make it interesting. If only this book was available years ago to make language learning fun.

Realy good story, often very funny, and at times the plot has you on the edge of your seat. Lots of interesting Spanish - at times helpful to have an online dictionary or translator to hand but mostly written to be understood by an 'ordinary' reader. But worth studying the langusge he uses to get closer to a more native metropolitan useage. And at times he swears!

For inductive learners, reading books is a great way to improve language skills. My experience with books like this is that usually either the stories are well executed, or the difficulty level is consistent and pitched right, but rarely both. I have to compliment Juan Fernández on being the exception. With my early intermediate level Spanish I thoroughly enjoyed both the narrative and the learning experience. The list of idiomatic expressions at the end of each chapter was helpful.

This is the fourth book I have posted this review for, why write a new one when I can’t praise Juan Fernandez any higher?

I discovered Juan Fernandez on YouTube and enjoyed his presentation style. As my Spanish improved I started reading his books on Kindle. I have now read most of them initially on Kindle and the later ones in print. His stories are suitable for adults, he doesn’t write in an over simplified manner, and he challenges you to expand you use of the language. I found it much easier to gain an understanding of Spanish by reading than simply by using apps. Highly recommended, but be realistic about your level when starting.

This latest book, at the higher intermediate level (B2). Is one of Juan’s best yet. The characters are entertaining, the story has some good twists and turns and there’s a lot of good new language and vocabulary to learn from it in the chapter glossaries.

One change from Juan’s books at lower levels is that the glossary explains new words and phrases in Spanish, not in English, but the explanations are written in simple language so as to be easily understandable.

I highly recommend this book to intermediate-level students of Spanish.
