À propos de Lauren Royal
J’ai décidé de devenir écrivain à l’âge de huit ans, après avoir remporté un concours de rédaction avec un texte qui avait pour titre Pourquoi ma mère est la meilleure et après que mon texte a été publié dans un grand journal. C’était si excitant de voir mes mots imprimés ! Mais tout le monde me disait qu’il était très difficile pour un romancier d’être publié, alors après l’université, j’ai passé quatorze ans en tant que PDG de ma propre chaîne de bijouterie avant d’écrire mon premier livre. Une erreur ? Peut-être… mais ma première héroïne, Amethyst, est une joaillière, alors au moins j’ai mis en pratique ce vieux et sage dicton : « Écris sur ce que tu connais. » Et j’ai appris une bonne leçon : ne laisse pas les autres te dire ce que tu peux ou ne peux pas faire !
J’écris des romans historiques avec une bonne dose d’humour, se déroulant principalement en Angleterre et en Écosse aux XVIIe et XIXe siècles (périodes de la Restauration et de la Régence). J’ai eu beaucoup de chance de voir mes livres figurer sur les listes de best-sellers du monde entier, y compris celles du New York Times et USA Today, faisant de cette deuxième carrière un véritable rêve devenu réalité. Je vis dans le sud de la Californie avec ma famille et notre chat qui ne cesse de perdre ses poils, et je pense toujours que ma mère est la meilleure !
