“The Last Letter is a haunting, heartbreaking and ultimately inspirational love story.“—InTouch Weekly
If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have.
I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride.
My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. It’s not fair.
And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart. She’s going to need help.
So if I’m gone, that means I can’t be there for Ella. I can’t help them through this. But you can. So I’m begging you, as my best friend, go take care of my sister, my family.
Please don’t make her go through it alone.

First of all most of the book is about the little girl having a cancer. Not just one sentence here and there, but the whole experience: regular blood tests and the anxiety while waiting for the results, radiological exams, chemotherapy, hair loss, vomiting, surgery … I’m not sure people who are living that would be happy reading about it in a novel.
And when everything seem to be alright for the couple – after the big misunderstanding, and the heroine unfairly dumping the hero who’s done everything for her and her children – and for the little girl, the last few chapters is about the other child slowly dying in an accident, stuck under a big rock, the hero crying beside him.

The Last Letter will take you on a very emotional journey. I can assure you that you will need tissues to hand. There is much heartache and worry throughout the story but even when my thoughts were coming to terms with the events that were happening, I couldn’t help but stop and admire how strong Ella is. I want to be her when I grow up. She truly is an incredible person.
I’m going to remember Beckett for a very long time. His backstory is one that broke my heart and although he shows that he is human and can make mistakes like the rest of us, to me he is perfect. He is someone who everyone needs by their side during the most trying times in our lives.
This is one book that every romance reader must read. I didn’t want to put my kindle down until I knew the conclusion to this heartbreakingly beautiful story. Situations happened that I never once considered Ella and Beckett would go through and as much as I hated those scenes, it sadly was their reality. There is so much I will take from this story, in particular that we all need hope, love, support and also to stop being so hard on ourselves.
The Last Letter is an incredible story from start to finish. This is my first time reading this author’s words and it certainly won’t be the last because I love how the author penned this story. The characters and the storyline (even though it broke me at times) are what make this book one that will take me some time to get over…. if that is even possible. I loved that the author wrote this story using dual POVs, and I can't not mention those letters!!
I highly recommend this book to you to read.
The Last Letter is a beautifully written absolute masterpiece.
Emotional, heartwarming, sexy, raw, heartbreaking and literally everything else inbetween. This book has everything!
I just fell in love with these characters, even though there was always that underlying ripple of fear that, at some point, this story was going to destroy you.
Yes... I can't deny or sugarcoat it, this book is a sob fest of epic proportions! However, in saying that, this book is so much more than that, it is quite a book journey and one I fell in love with from start to finish. Turning pages at 2am, as the world around me disintegrated and all that mattered was Beckett, Ella, Colt and Maisie. A family that starts in a far from conventional way, that becomes pretty much perfect in every way that matters.
There is a trigger here, and I have seen some anger that this book didnt come with a warning, therefore if you are a parent who has suffered a loss, then consider this book very carefully, but if you feel brave and want to delve into an incredibly written story that certainly tugs at every heartstring imaginable, then go for it, because at the heart of it all, this is a truly epic romance.
If there is one book I highly recommend you pick up and read, this is it!
Now the plot starter isn't really new. I have a few books which start off as pen pals to soldiers and said solider coming back to meet them. It was sweet and well paced. It was emotional without being irrational and more importantly it had elements of the truth in it.
If you want to know the plot, read other reviews - me, I just write about how a book made me feel. It's like the saying about living a thousand lives, my book reading time gives me 2 hours of being inside someone else's world. As much as I would have appreciated a different ending I think it is important to note that little kids growing up in an 'adult' world really do talk like these two. And sometimes old souls do show themselves. So my advice people is, read this on a weekend or in the evening. Have tissues close by, and note the dedication at the front of the book. Bravo Rebecca, bravo!
