The worst part of being in love with my straight best friend is the fact he's too oblivious to see it.
Years of pining have left me exhausted, and I need a break from Dex. I need space to get over my feelings. But when his relationship falls apart and he turns to me for comfort, I cave immediately.
If there's one thing I hate more than being hurt, it's seeing Dex struggle. I can't leave him in a time of need, even if my friends say it's my biggest downfall.
They say Dexter Mitchale is my weakness, but if that's true, I don't want to be strong.
I've always been the dumb one. It's what I'm known for, and usually I don't let it get to me.
I have hockey, and I have my best friend, Tripp. What more do I need? To settle down? No thank you. Marriage? Hard pass. According to ex-girlfriends, that makes me "irresponsible."
But the solution I come up with to get over my fear of commitment might be my dumbest idea yet. Not only does it have team management breathing down my neck, but it puts a strain on my friendship with Tripp.
This PR nightmare could lose me the only person I've ever loved. Losing girlfriends is nothing. Losing Tripp? It's not an option.
I'll do whatever it takes to keep him.

Tripp and Des have been besties ever since meeting each other in hockey. Tripp has been in love with Des ever since the first meet, but he knows nothing will ever happen since Des is straight. They do everything together much to the annoyance of Des' girlfriend. When she hints about wanting to marry, Des freaks out.
When on an outing in Vegas Des asks his bestie to have a fake marriage ceremony to see what it's like, they want hand the papers in to make it real. But of course, low and behold, they turn out to be actually married and all hell brakes loose.
They are advised to keep the fake marriage going 'till everything slows down. Meanwhile, they start to explore sexually and it turns out Des isn't as straight as he thinks he is.
I really love these two characters. I loved how sweetly oblivious Des was in not seeing how in love he is with Tripp. And how patient Tripp was, how he was willing to get hurt just so he could have Dex even just for a short time.
Story short... I just loved this book!!
When the circumstances lead to them living together, Dex starts to realise that he never truly saw who Tripp is as a man and as a possible partner. Meanwhile, Tripp has to see the man he loves, every day, without telling him what he feels…
Juggling with the situation, hockey, fans, teammates, and the Collective, the season is up and running, and they will have to face everything that will happen, the good and the bad.
More, more and more, I just love this series, the connection with CU Hockey and the Fake Boyfriend series, seeing all the characters all over again it’s just fantastic. And I cannot wait to learn more about Oskar, he seems to be something !

Both guys are cute and yet oddly oblivious in there own ways (though Dex definitely seems to have the rep for being the dumb one. Though I personally think some of the mis-communicating came via Tripp)
I won't post any plot point spoilers (without hiding them) in this because I think its pretty nice to discover it on your own because it's so silly yet so totally Tripp and Dex. Speaking generally though, the romance was well paced in a way that was believable. Tripp's reluctance to believe there could be more after years of longing is understandable and Dex's gradual discovery was equally convincing.
Overall, this was a crazy, romantic ride with the two adorable cutey pies of the NHL and yet heart-breakingly tender at times. Well done to Eden and Saxon for writing yet another 5* read.
I read and reviewed a complimentary copy of the book.
Tripp is in love with his straight best friend - recipe for disaster right?? Tripp can’t say no to Dex and finds himself in all sorts of awkward situations included ending up married to said straight best friend - honestly I was giggling through some of these pages!
Dex is such a sweetheart I actually felt really sorry for him 😢 he just doesn’t want to share his best friend or realise Tripp is in love with him.
Dex is such a happy go lucky guy who doesn’t grasp what’s happening around him and takes everything as a pinch of salt which causes people around him to not be very nice.
When I met these two in book one I was so excited to see how this would play out and I was not disappointed 😊 i love both these authors and the work the produce.
This story follows Tripp and Dex on their journey to happiness.
Tripp has been in love with his “straight” best friend since they first met but has been reluctant to say anything for fear of loosing him. Dex is seen by everyone as the dumb one of hockey. Then one hairbrained idea throws them both into the spotlight causing them to think fast and work together.
I spent a whole lot of time shouting at these to to communicate and stop being silly! Obviously that didn’t work but the progression of this relationship is genuinely beautiful, sexuality is not always set in stone and the way these authors express through Dex is really well done. I cannot wait to see glimpses of these two in future collective books.
The MCs have my whole heart. Best friends, both lovable puppies but one has a secret. Tripp is in love with Dex, his straight best friend.
I loved this story. The inclusivity of different orientations was perfect. The banter between all the characters was funny and I can’t wait for more of the series to be released.
The spice was a 3/5.
gotten fed up. All in all it was a great read. I enjoyed it slightly more than the Egosystical one but I think it's because it was softer in a way more emotional.
I hope you get my meaning 🙈😂
