I have only made a few recipes from this but they have been super tasty and easy to make. I definitely recommend this cookbook

Another brilliant book from the Roasting Tin genius

I’m a huge fan of the Roasting Tin books so was looking forward to this one coming out. It does not disappoint - I’ve already bought another copy for my mum and can see myself buying many more for other friends and family members. I’ve made two recipes from the book so far, first the Doi Maach (fish with yoghurt and turmeric - I used salmon) and (pictured) the spiced roasted paneer with peppers and tomatoes. Both were incredibly quick to prep (one of my favourite things about the Roasting Tin series as by the time we’ve got the kids in bed we don’t want to spend the rest of the evening in the kitchen) and absolutely delicious. I’m really excited about trying the rest of the recipes (and especially being able to use up our veg box potatoes on something more exciting than mash) - in the meal plan for next week are the masala frittata, the coconut rice with cashew nuts, the tandoori roasted sweetcorn and the prawn malai curry, and I’ll definitely be making some chai, some cheese stuffed potato cakes and the cheddar, cumin and nigella seed straws. I’ve been in a bit of a rut with cooking recently but I’m genuinely excited by pretty much all the recipes in here - they all look so tempting and most really straightforward. It’s also a really nicely laid out book, with clear sections and the ingredients for each recipe split into “main” and “store cupboard” which works really well - we’ve only had to add a couple of things to our own store cupboard to be set for most of the recipes in the book, making meal planning and adding ingredients to the shopping list nice and easy.

Aside from the delicious recipes, the book also looks great with lovely photos of not just the food but also Rukmini and her family, and the introductions to the whole book, sections and many of the individual recipes, giving background to the food and drawing on her own and her family’s experiences, make it a fascinating and heartwarming read. I’m looking forward to making a train picnic soon!

I like this author so opted for the book as I like Indian food also. I liked the book and resultant recipes so much, I’ve bought several more copies to give as gifts to fellow foodies. The recipes are fab and they work. This is fast becoming one of my most used cookbooks.

My preordered copy arrived on 15 September and has already provided us with two delicious recipes, Prawn Malai Curry and a cashew nut rice dish. This entry in the series focuses on Indian and Bengali recipes, with a wide variety of categories including brunch, mains, rice dishes, sweets and fried food options. As with all the books in this series, the recipes are presented in a way that does not intimidate, easing you in to trying new techniques and flavours. Having said that, it does build on previous books in the series e.g. RT Around the World, and as such many of the ingredients were in our store cupboard. I'm really looking forward to trying more of the beautifully presented recipes. Also, I must make mention of the personal stories and family histories captured in this cookery book - a real pleasure to read and they add a lovely, warm element to the book without overwhelming. I always enjoy sharing recipes with friends and family - thanks to Rukmini Iyer, her parents and family for sharing these.

I have many of the roasting tin books which I love, unfortunately many the recipes in this book require deep frying which is really not my thing, book returned.

Bought this book for my daughter who is a pescatarian, and consequently eats many vegan and vegetarian dishes. She loves to cook, so after a brief browse through the book, I know she will find many new dishes to prepare and enjoy.

This was a present, and in the first week I made 5 dishes.Everything in this book is so easy and uncomplicated.Anyone could make them.I immediately bought a copy for my son. I know it’s going to be well used.

A lot of this book is not what I wanted as I don’t eat fish or desserts. However, the vegetarian and vegan recipes are everything that you would expect from this exceptional author - simple to prepare and delicious (I’m anticipating here as I only received it yesterday and haven’t cooked from it yet. The pictures look delicious and the ingredients sound great). Some of the fish dishes look easily adaptable - e.g. swap prawns for cashews, smoked fish for smoked tofu. I have about 10 bookmarks placed for dishes to try, many of which I already have the ingredients for. There aren’t too many hard to get hold of ingredients, which is always a bonus.

I’ve had this book for a week and have cooked three dishes from it, all of which have been really tasty. The one tin aubergine with Nigella seeds was so simple and absolutely delicious!
The instructions are easy to follow, you might need to expand your spice collection (but a worthwhile investment in my opinion) and there are lots of options for vegetarians especially if you’re willing to substitute meat/fish for vegetables or other proteins.
