Description du produit
Revue de presse
"I’ve never read a book by Lisa that I didn’t love. In this case, I ended up reading the whole thing in a day which is always a pleasure, and makes you feel as if you’ve had a little holiday from your own life." (Jojo Moyes)
"I LOVED I Found You. A proper thriller with wonderful characters." (Sabine Durrant)
"Lisa Jewell just keeps getting better. I thought nothing could top The Girls, then along came I Found You. Three separate strands, three very different characters with one dark mystery at its core. With another writer, I would be trying to solve the mystery by chapter two, but Lisa’s books are so deliciously immersive, like a warm scented bath, you don’t want to jump ahead to find out what happened, preferring to lie back and let the story wash over you. The plot of I Found You is gripping and compelling but, as always with Lisa. it’s the characters that drive the book. With the possible exception of Anne Tyler, I can’t think of another writer who so gets to the heart of what it is to be human, in all humanity’s flawed decency. I Found You is a wise, compassionate, gripping tale by a storyteller who totally gets people - acting well and acting badly, but mostly muddling through trying our best." (Tamar Cohen)
"I Found You is exciting, entertaining and a crackingly good read … Lisa Jewell knows exactly how to drip feed information that compels the reader to want to read more and more and I found myself unable to put the book down … A perfect read. This is the first time I’ve read one of [Lisa’s] books but it certainly won’t be the last." (Linda’s Book Bag)
"Fresh and intriguing, with characters so real I ached for them. I loved I Found You"

But the biggest problem was that I was expecting a thriller, not a cosy mystery. The writing lacked the darkness, grittiness and suspense needed in a thriller.
The villain proved to be the weakest protagonist in the story. He didn't invoke any feelings in me: he sounded too cliché, too odd, too much, to be realistic enough. I think his history needed more exploration so he could show more complexity and conflict within himself.
The main couple was the redeeming salvation: their well rounded characters and their developing relationship rang truer. They were cute and I did like them.

I go to Lisa Jewell when I want a quick, pacey story that I can race through, and this is exactly what I got. As ever, she has some intriguing characters, lacing the past with the present in a non-contrived way that makes you read far too quickly. My one grip on this on is that the 'baddie' was really a tad unbelievable, though I'm betting he has some basis in a real life person. Why is it that sometimes we tolerate less in fiction than in real life? But that aside, this is a great pace turner of a story, and I will definitely be going back for more. Again.
