Beware: sexual assault, dubious consent, misogyny like it’s a damn Olympic sport, suicide.

POC?
Absolutely not; true to the obnoxious wealth of the characters, they’re all as white as the skeletons their money hides.

GLITTFAB/Queer characters?
Nope, nopety nope, nuh-uh; all painfully straight

Disabled characters?
Nope! Our main femme is a victim of abuse, both MCs have had to deal with a good bit of Interesting Trauma, but there’s no disability.

Worth my time?
Yeah, I reckon! Clocking in around 4 hours for me, the power dynamics & impossible situations made for quite a delicious bit of Smut.

Re-read?
I don’t think I would; the twists were fairly obvious, though the scenes were delightful. I don’t think it will hold up very well to being read again, even as a full series re-read.
Also! COMMAS! There are inexplicable commas in strange places that make sentences twist in weird ways & I. Do. Not. LIKE that.

Recommend?
To those who enjoy a good bit of dubious consent, with some power play & impossible situations, have at it!
If rampant misogyny, sexual assault outside the “sexy” kind, & abusive parenting isn’t your thing, steer clear.

The book had 194 pages or 2629 locations on my kindle. The book was about a Parker and Willow. Willow is an 18 year old virgin. Parker is a teenager, who is hell bent on revenge. Parker's brother is in prison, because he supposedly raped Willow's sister. The book contained blackmail, so so oral sex and some decent sex more than half way thru. The book is told thru both POV's. I wasn't too fond of either character. Willow was a bit feisty, protective, but absolutely putty in Parker's hands. Parker was determined, possessive, obsessed, forceful, but too back and forth when it came to Willow. Overall this book needed a better bully and a stronger heroine. It was ok.

This story is the epitome of bully romance. I LOVED it! The story pulled me in and held me captive to the end. Such good story-telling, such good world-building, such good character building. I loved every page of this book.

Willow, a good and caring person, forced into situations by an angry and vengeful brother who feels his family has been wronged by her... wow, such a good story. I kept reading because I had to know where this was going. I read this book in one day because I couldn’t put it down.

Josie Beck and Cassie Hallman are such talented and efficient writers. I’m never disappointed in their work, ever. Highly recommended.

This book was filled with many dark secrets. Willow was placed in a difficult position - to take care of her broken older sister even though she herself still seemed to be grieving. She bears the responsibility for her sister’s well-being and it clouds all of her decisions. Parker carries a deep-seated anger for what happened to his brother aimed directly at Willow. Thrown together they struggle with their secrets and emotions until everything erupts. Both Willow and Parker draw you in as they make their way on parallel journeys, intersecting in maddening, yet passionate encounters. Be prepared to go through a gamut of emotions all the way to the end.

Intense, intriguing, suspenseful, full of drama and angst is how I would sum up Hating You. This book captured me from the very beginning. What really happened to Willow's sister, why does Parker hate Willow and her family so much, who's telling the truth. This book had me at the edge of my seat. I kept thinking I knew what happened or who did it only to learn I was wrong. I love a book that can have me fully immersed in a book that I don't want to put it down to save my life. Hating You will grab your attention, shock you to the core and when you learn the answers to your questions you'll be left with your mouth hanging open and in disbelief. Parker and Willow, the battle to who's right and who's wrong will keep you in suspense. Loved this book from beginning to end and cannot wait for the rest of the series!!

Intense enough that I got engrossed in the story

(audiobook+ebook) I can’t say I liked it, though I didn’t hate it either. I’m not a fan of bully romances in the first place–or even enemies-to-lovers–because I don’t believe that hate can become love. Lust at best. And I don’t consider lust a solid base for a healthy relationship. BUT it was intense enough that I got engrossed in the story.

With an open mind, I could see the few tender moments in the middle of all the bullying and dub-con. In my opinion, it doesn’t redeem Parker. But he isn’t the only despicable character, and in the midst of all those flawed people with questionable motives, he isn’t even the worst. It isn’t just dark, it’s DARK!

There’s some suspense, and I really wanted to understand where the hate between Willow and Parker came from. The cues were given bit by bit, until one last twist that, if not totally surprising, was still interesting enough that it kept me on the edge of my seat.

I was a bit disappointed with the narration though. I didn’t care for the male narrator’s bedroom voice, which didn’t sound right a lot of time. The female narrator was good enough though.

J.L. Beck and C. Hallman write another book that had me hooked from the first page. This was a bully book with dark elements.

Parker wants revenge on Willow for the mistakes that she has made. He believes that she lied, and he wants her to pay.

Parker was a possessive a$$hole that rules everyone at the school. He is an alpha who is in charge, and gets whatever he wants. He does not let anyone, but him touch Willow.

Willow shows up at Blackthorn Academy after leaving two years ago. She is trying to keep her sister safe by helping her father make business contacts.

Willow was a pushover, and let all the men in her life push her around. She let her father control her actions so she could protect her sister. She did everything that Parker wanted her too.

This book definitely had some hot scenes.

Overall I really liked the story between Parker and Willow. They had this obsession with each other from the very beginning that just got stronger.

I recommend this book to anyone who wants a dark bully Romance with possessive alpha hero.

What would you do if your brother was jailed by the girl you loved? Everything to get her to tell the truth. This is a true dark, enemies and bully romance. It is spicy and can be triggering for some readers. Beck and Hallman have created a real world University with characters that capture your hate, love and heart. For me, she wrote a story I cannot only see, but feel and hear. See I am writing this review a year after reading it. All I had to do was read the last chapter and the entire story came back to me. If you want to read about one alpha male and a righteous girl, then this is story as long as you can take the stalking, threats and bullying.

This book was intriguing, intense, suspenseful, full of angst with a dash of drama. Hating You had me hooked me from the very beginning. I had to know what really happened to Willow’s sister and the hell does Parker hate Willow and her family so much. Someone is not telling the truth and I had to get to the bottom of it! It kept me on the edge of the next page the whole way through. I knew there was more to this story...love it when a book can keep me guessing. Hating You and Parker and Willow will grab your attention and then maybe shock you to the core and when you learn the answers to your questions! Just when you think you know someone the rug is pulled out from underneath you! Can not wait to read the next book in this series!

Wow! This book had a real alpha hole leading the story. Parker was even darker and more possessive than even Quinton from Corium (1st book at least) University series. A quicker read but no less captivating. I was hit with an unexpected twist which, really?, I don’t know better yet with this duo? These ladies know how to spin a story without seeming effort. Loved it and can’t wait to see what handsome naughty Warren gets up to next!
