Dear Jackson,
I'm leaving you this note because I know you're very busy and I don't want to waste the town sheriff's time. Lord knows I've already wasted enough of it.

Thank you for taking me home last night and...everything else. I made you a basket of wild blueberry muffins for your trouble. That seemed like the appropriate baked good for getting naked in your living room.

I wasn't myself last night. I didn't mean to kiss you or fondle your backside or ask all those intimate questions. Thank you for pretending to enjoy it.

It was very noble of you to sleep on the couch while I was starfished on your bed. I couldn't help but notice it's quite large. The bed, that is. I swear, I didn't notice anything else when I let myself out this morning.

As you know, Talbott's Cove is a ridiculously small town and there's no chance we can avoid each other. Not that I'd want to avoid you, of course, but I'm not sure I can look at you without thinking of the forty different ways I made a fool of myself.

Instead of avoidance, let's try to be friends. We'll forget all about last night…if that's what you want.

Please burn this note after you read it.

Kate Canterbary ne l'a pas tout compris, mais c'est ce qu'elle sait avec certitude: la salsa et de la tequila épicé résoudre la plupart des problèmes, la vie sur l'océan - Pacifique ou de l'Atlantique - est l'endroit le plus proche de la perfection, et écrire des histoires intelligentes et échauffés est mieux que n'importe quel montant du chocolat.

Elle a commencé à écrire comme reporter pour un indie arts et journal de divertissement l'époque où les gens lisent encore les journaux et elle a été écrit et secrètement interviewer des gens - Soyez prudent, assis à côté d'elle sur un avion –depuis lors.

Kate vit sur l'eau en Nouvelle-Angleterre avec M. Canterbary et le Little Baby Canterbary, et quand elle n'est pas en train d'écrire architectes sexy, elle envisage ses journées à visiter le meilleur “food trucks” dans la region.

This book was pretty much what I expected from the blurb... A funny, sexy and sweet, contemporary romance that made me smile from cover to cover.

Annette is a book store owner, liked by all except her bitchy sisters, and doesn't realise her own appeal.
Jackson is the new sheriff who is settling in nicely to his new town and can't take his eyes off Annette but has never had an opening.

When Annette is jerked out of her fantasy land featuring an unattainable guy (because he's gay and happily in a relationship!) she's thrust into the path of the sexy sheriff who is all too willing to catch her.

There was a lot of flirty back and forth with this pair and lots of sex and sweetness.

Jackson was the perfect catch.
He knew what he wanted and when he got his chance he held on with both hands despite Annette's reluctance to accept all that he was offering. He was patient, kind and understanding. He was protective and hot and good-natured. Everyone should have a Jackson in their lives!

Annette was smart, bookish, sweet and totally unprepared for someone to love her. Her family had really done a number on her and although she was frustrating at times it was really hard to dislike her. I loved seeing the sparks fly between them.

It was a quick, light and lovely summery read... But be warned! Have baked goods to hand while reading this novel as descriptions of Annette's baking (and she bakes a lot) will have you craving the sweet stuff!

I adore all of the words Kate writes and this book was no exception. Jackson is doggedly determined to get his girl. Annette, well she needs a bit of self belief and more of a spine before she can get onboard with everything. There were times I wanted to cheer for her like her BFF Brooke and other times I could have quite happily given her a slap and told her to 'woman up.' For example, if my own family showed up and treat me the way hers did, they wouldn't get a second chance to repeat it, or be able to seemingly rinse and repeat for sport.

Whilst instalove isn't my favourite, there was just something about Jackson that couldn't help me rooting for him to get what he wanted, and that was Annette. He'll never top Will at the top of the spot for me, but he's only a few rungs below on the ladder.

I've enjoyed visiting Talbot's Cove and I hope we come back to get some happy for Brooke.

I loved this book, Jackson had me hooked from the start, I lived the relationship between Annette and Brooke, now that is more than friendship, it's better than some family, I lived the writing, the author really knows how to pull you in, truthfully I couldn't put it down, the sex scenes were HOT, the bitterness of Annettes mum and sisters really came out, you dont need that kind of negativity in your life, would highly recommend this one, I'm off to get the next one.

I loved Hard Pressed.
Annette is broken hearted at discovering the man she'd crushed on for years is gay.
The new sheriff in town, Jackson, has a "thing" for her.
And then there's her bestie, Brooke.
These are the three main characters in this book and I loved them all.
I had moments of laugh out loud laughter at some of the crazy things that happened. Annette is a total wreck at times but she has a heart of gold. Brooke is the bestie that every woman needs to give her confidence and remind her what a great person she really is! And Jackson? He's just sex on legs! He knows he's on show as the new sheriff and can't afford to have a bad reputation if things go wrong. He and Annette were wonderful. Full of warmth and humour. And hotness. Mustn't forget to mention the hotness!!!
Lovely story!

I loved the Walshes, I still love the Walshes, so I was a little grieved when they all found their HEA’s. But then came Owen and Cole and now we have Annette and Jackson and I adore them as much. It’s a simple story with a small town feel, but the simplicity of the story allows Kate to develop complex characters and use her words. My God, her words. The woman knows how to construct a sentence and drop a bomb of a word in there.
Hurry up with the next one, m’dear.
