" On March 30, 1856, the Peace of Paris was signed and Russia remained weak until 1914 when she joined forces with Germany in the First World War." Not really. Russia entered the war to defend Serbia from Austria-Hungary after the assassination of Arch Duke Franz Ferdinand. Germany declared war on Russia, and France being allied with Russia declared war on Germany. And so on, and so on. Russia certainly didn't join forces with Germany.

Fake Reviews & Random Historical Rambling

First, read the other reviews for this book. It quickly becomes obvious that they were all written by the same person. This booklet is a hodgepodge of random historical facts that prides itself on its disjointedness. It singles out tiny moments from the past and separates them from any meaningful context, often leaping hundreds of years at a time. Though interesting in some parts, it had no cohesion at all, despite a vague admonishment by the author throughout to "remember fallen heroes." Reading this felt like sitting on a bar stool next to a kind-hearted but drunken history professor, listening while he rambles aimlessly through Western civilization.

Forgettable History

The Amazon site for this book lists it as being 150 pages long; however the text I received is only 32 pages long. Obviously, the author released a second, much shorter edition of the book under the same title as before without disclosing he was doing do. The material that was excised from the new edition seems to be the Atlantis, conspiracy, and 9/11 material that was so heavily criticized in many of the reviews here.

So much for what wasn't in the book. As for what is there, it's badly-organized, written at a fifth-grade level, and occasionally just plain wrong.

It was pretty decent until the end.

This is actually a great premise for a book. It drew me in and I enjoyed reading it until the end. The problem with the end, you ask? The last two "Forgotten" Histories were nothing by conspiracy theories. It was even mentioned that they were. They, basically, invalidated the legitimacy of the entire rest of the book, in my opinion.

These books are supposed to be factual information on their topics. Not a bunch of theories with no supported proof.

Very Interesting and Varied Topics

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Some of it, I knew at one point in my education, but most of it I never knew. Thank you for the reminder of the 'old' information and the education of the 'new' information.
