Falling Embers: The Tattered & Torn Series, Book 2 Livres audio Audible – Version intégrale
I’ve loved Calder Cruz from the moment he taught me how to fly. Racing down a mountain and giving me the release I so desperately needed. My understanding. My safe space.
Hadley has fought for a life of her own ever since her sister’s kidnapping. When she was drowning in expectations and family pressures, Calder was always the one who understood her.
Until one night changed it all. From best friends to strangers in a single breath.
She’s like a fire that lives inside me. Even when I thought it was all burned out, there were still embers that lived in my bones.
Calder knows what it’s like to almost lose the people he loves most. He’ll never make that kind of mistake again. Working at the fire station and taking care of his daughters are the only things he needs.
All it takes is a single moment to make him realize how wrong he is. A split second of coming close to losing the woman he has always loved.
But as long-buried embers light anew, there are those who lurk in the shadows. And they’ll do whatever it takes to extinguish that flame for good....

As with Tattered Stars, I adored this book. It has all the feels even though I got so mad when reading it at Hadley’s family for not realising the abuse her mother was heaping on her. I know it was nothing physical but at times it appeared to me that that she hated her daughter. The relationship between Calder and Hadley was definitely slow burn but once they finally got together things moved at a fast pace. Calder had his ghosts though and was almost obsessive about playing it safe and protecting his twin daughters – a bit weird for someone who’s a fireman! Hadley had trust issues of her own and just wants to be accepted for who she is without feeling stifled. With an underlying threat against Hadley escalating until it reaches a dramatic climax this is one of my top reads for April. I can’t wait to read more from the Tattered & Torn series.
As a youngster she had to follows the rules, her mother's rules, that had her totally stifled. She had some release in the form of her brother's best friend, Calder, teaching her to ride...
Now Hadley has a double life. Being controlled by her mother and letting off steam through her stunts, which have found her fame and followers.
Hadley has always had feelings for Calder, father of 2 young girls, and they make a great team... on the bikes, with the girls and life in general.
Then things change for the worse. And better. And then there's the whole spanner in the works thing going off too! So just as you think you've got it sussed, think again!!!
After reading first book in the series I just knew I was going to love Hadley. Her relationship with her mum just drew me in instantly and I couldn’t wait to read about Calder and his beautiful daughters. I loved seeing them finally give into their feelings for one another and the connection they have together.
Once again Catherine has created a beautiful story woven with mystery and suspense that kept me guessing until the end.
So excited to read the next books in the series.
The frustration that Hadley feels just leaps off the page and you are drawn in. I've never connected with a character like this before and really sympathise with her. She's in a no win situation.
Calder is a good man who overcomes his own fears to stand up and admit his feelings and what he wants. He also steps up to fight for Hadley with her family.
They make a great couple and although they struggled the relationship was worth it!
Definitely recommend this book
