Skye is reunited with her friends and lovers in the Ha’kan, but the shadow of the sorceress looms over her. Even as her magical power increases, she knows she is no match for the woman who seeks vengeance for her great-grandfather’s infidelity. But Skye is no longer a child, and her years with the highly sexual Ha’kan have taught her a few things as she considers an entirely new way of dealing with her nemesis.
Raine prepares for departure to Mount Alfheim, intending to accompany the Ha’kan Queen and her entourage. The powerful warrior has orchestrated events to perfection: The people of Arianthem are united as never before. But as she and her dragon lover start their journey, Raine can’t help but feel that the hand of fate is tightening its grasp around her. As clouds gather over the Empty Land, a prophecy is heavy on her mind.
As the Second Great War threatens, it is uncertain if the Alliance will hold. The Goddess of the Underworld stirs, having waited centuries for this moment. Her goal and her focus are one, solely on the object of her lust. Hel will take what she is due, and the Dragon’s Lover will bow before her, by choice or by force. And the latter is just as pleasing to her, as long as the Arlanian is on her knees....

The writing is magical. The characters beautifully drawn and the story woven in such a way as to bind you to it heart and soul.
This is a saga of epic proportion.
I have started the series again just to revisit old friends and loves.
Please read this and the other six. They are exceptional.
Five stars really doesn't do this book justice.

By now, the amount of characters in the series has grown extremely large: I question the necessity of introducing a lot of new characters in the first part of the book, especially when all of them are completely forgotten in the second part and not even mentioned once. The unending Raine worship reached new height throughout the entire book: it had waned slightly during the previous few books but it came back in full force here (much to my displeasure). Throughout the entire book, every single female character (which is about 95% of the cast) is consistently horny, no matter if it's hakans, humans, elves, dragons or anything in between (both literally and figuratively).
The first half of the book (literally; I checked) consists of introducing new sexy characters, reintroducing existing ones in new sexy situations, expanding a lot on the Hakan's sexual ways of life and solving a fairly major problem in a sexual way. Despite that, it never goes into too much detail so it's not full-on erotica either. To be fair, there's a tiny bit of non-sexual development here too (like Skye's new magical power or relearning of archery) but these take a very small part of the book compared to the sexually-charged content.
The second part of the book mostly consists of negociations, battles and wars. It's definitively enjoyable and there's one very unexpected event I liked a lot. I can't go into details due to spoilers, but it's overall great despite a few issues.
On paper, I feel like I should dislike this book. There's a lot of elements in this book that bothers or annoy me, and yet... I found myself enjoying myself as I read through it. It's oddly enjoyable. I definitively recommend reading the previous books in the series first, as this is not a good starting point.

I love all the characters even Hel herself and I can't wait to see what's in store for Raine whilst she is held prisoner in the underworld. Yes, I do want her to enjoy the Goddess of the underworld too.
I'm glad to see Skye character arc and hopefully she will become strong, I hope Ingred won't die and will find redemption. Oh as much as I love the Dallon and Rika please bring back Lifa! Maybe it's just me but I think Skye has more chemistry with her than all others.
Oh my I just love Talan, I want to read more of her fighting and a little jealousy too. Always go Raine and Talan = awesome.
Syn and Lady Jorden are the funniest couple ever!
I don't get how Hel and Fenrir are siblings. I hope much more will be explain in book 8th about the God and their correlation with the world.
Anyway, the war is coming and I'm all for it. Let see some dragon fighting! I'm Talan follower (better not kill her)
Note: A map would be awesome.
Cheers.
