From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Parker S. Huntington comes an enemies-to-lovers, slow-burn romance full of revenge and a dash of fate.
“She could enjoy her pretty, perfect world a little longer. Soon enough, everything she owned would be mine.”
I had a plan to escape the friend zone.
Step one: sneak into Reed’s room.
Step two: sleep with him.
But when the lights turned on, it wasn’t familiar blue eyes I saw.
These were dark, angry, and full of demons.
And they belonged to Reed’s much older brother.
Four years later, Nash Prescott is no longer the help’s angry son.
I’m no longer the town’s prized princess.
At twenty-two, I’m broke, in need of a job.
At thirty-two, he’s a billionaire, in need of revenge.
Who cares if my family ruined his?
Who cares if he looks at me with pure loathing?
Who cares if every task he assigns me is designed to torture?
I need the money.
Simple as that.
I’ll suffer his cruelty in silence, knowing there’s one thing he wants more than revenge…
Me.
Note: Devious Lies is a standalone billionaire office romance. If you love banter and angst, this book is for you! Welcome to Eastridge. Enter if you dare.

I’ve discovered this author over this past year, and I have to admit, I totally fell in love with her writing. I was a bit worried because of the length of the book, but rest assured, I wasn’t bored for one minute. I actually wanted more and more of Emery and Nash’s story. This book truly keeps you gripped from beginning to end. You literally won’t want to let go of this beautifully, perfectly imperfect characters.
It's so rare for me to love the hero and heroine equally, but this was definitely the case with Emery and Nash. Yes, I was a bit frustrating at times but I loved them so much both as individuals and as a couple. Emery is quirky, completely selfless and independent. What a sweetheart she is. Nash on the other hand is quite cold, arrogant but so endearing somehow.
I don’t want to say too much about the story as I think this is the type of book you just want to go into blind and enjoy every pages of it. What I can say is that DEVIOUS LIES is a heartfelt, breathtaking, slow-burn romance filled with funny moments, emotion, passion and angst.
I highly recommend this book.
There are no truer words than the magic ones that emery silently put out the universe, this book shows growth and hell of a lot of twists - its full, of lust, gluttony, greed, anger, violence, fraud, treachery. I loved every single word.
I’m going to read more of this author!
It’s really a great book and I enjoyed it a lot ! Can’t wait to read other books from her !

What wasn’t so good - first 30% was a bore fest! In fact every part where Emery and Nash are not directly speaking to each other either in person or via the app is a bore fest! The author thinks she’s writing poetically or whimsically but infact it’s just majorly dull.

Four years later Emery is desperate for a real job. She’s living paycheck to paycheck, has nowhere to live, and gets most of her meals from a soup kitchen as and when she can. Reed gets her a job as an intern on the design team for Nash’s new hotel. Nash, who pretty much hates her. Nash, who is now a self-made billionaire. Nash, who is as brutal as he is beautiful. She doesn’t want him to know she’s working for him. In fact she doesn’t want anyone to know who she is as there was huge embezzlement scandal at her father’s company a couple of years ago. The company went under, two people lost their lives (one of which was Nash and Reed’s father), and the Winthrops became the most hated family in town. Can she avoid Nash the whole time she works for his company? Well, no, of course she can’t. Fate keeps getting in the way.
I was absolutely hooked on this story within the first few chapters! Emery is petty as hell but I absolutely loved that about her. She’s also stubborn and prideful to a fault. To a point that’s detrimental to her own health, but it just gave her character so much depth. Nash is vengeful and brutal, but at his core he is so generous and caring. They both are.
I love the way fate kept intervening in their lives and bringing them together. I love their arguments, banter, inner thoughts. I love that I learned (and have already forgotten) so many new words! But the thing I loved the most - and this is incredibly pathetic of me - is the mention of my home! Kuala Lumpur! I miss home so much, especially with current travel restrictions, and Malaysia is almost never mentioned in any books I read so I definitely got overly excited about this!
My only negative point is that they kept mentioning some big secret that Emery’s dad was going to spill to her...but we never learn what it is...I don’t think? Perhaps it’s in one of the upcoming books in the series?
All in all, this will take some beating to be toppled off the top spot for my favourite read in May. Yes I know it’s only the 5th...but this book is THAT good.
