With the Experiment in Terror show finding some success, amateur ghost hunters Perry Palomino and Dex Foray embark on their most terrifying investigation yet. A tiny, fog-shrouded island in the rough strait between British Columbia and Washington State has held a dark secret for decades: it was a former leper colony where over 40 souls were left to rot, die, and bury each other.
Now a functioning campground, Perry and Dex spend an isolated weekend there to investigate potential hauntings - but as the duo quickly find out, there is more to fear on D'Arcy Island than just ghosts. The island quickly pits partner against partner, spiraling the pair into madness that serves to destroy their sanity, their relationship, and their very lives.

Anyway, 'Dead Sky Morning' is the third installment in the series, and for me it was a return to the things I loved about the first book in the series - real danger, some interesting history, and of course that old sexual tension between Perry and Dex. And without getting too close to spoiler territory, lets just say the sexual tension gets cranked up to the next level in this novel.
For the fourth episode of their web series, Dex is dragging Perry off to D'Arcy Island, a former Chinese leper colony. Now, intrigued by the story, I googled it (yeah I'm a geek, so shoot me) and discovered that D'Arcy Island is as real as they come. Which of course makes me love the book even more for being factually accurate...
So, Perry and Dex take a boat out to D'Arcy Island and anchor the boat as securely as they can manage on an island that is notorious for its dangerous approach and lack of safe docking area. And they hike to a campsite on the other side of the island. You know they're heading for trouble when the killer raccoons appear, or possibly before then when Perry sees someone watching her from the shores of the supposedly empty island. But then it wouldn't be an Experiment in Terror novel if there wasn't some peril involved.
And in this book it comes in the form of Mary, probably the creepiest damn dead woman I've ever had the displeasure of meeting in a novel. The ghost of a missionary woman, she has her own dirty secrets that keep her bound to the island and intent on stopping Perry and Dex from getting away. But we can't forget the mysterious coffins that wash up on shore, and the bizarre flash-mob Deer. The tension in this novel comes in wave after wave, cranking up notch by notch until you can hardly bear to read on. It was nail-biting, eye-covering, lip-chewing tension. And I loved it!

Dex and Perry go to investigate a small island which is now a campsite, but it was originally a leper colony where 40 lepers died. It's not really camping season though, so they are going to be on the island on their own. After borrowing a friends boat they sail off to the island. When they first get there they have difficulty securing the boat. Having been told to stay on the boat at night so it didn't drift away, that's where Perry decides she's staying. Dex has other ideas though and tells Perry he is camping on the island. Whilst Dex is hauling his stuff over to the island in a dingy, Perry thinks she sees a leper in the trees, then she sees a hand on the window of the boat. That's enough to change her mind and she decides to go with Dex after all.
At this point I was totally creeped out already and nothing had really happened, Karina did a really good Job of setting the scene and making it feel eerie. Little did I know that this was just going to be the tip of the iceberg and actually quite tame at some of the stuff to come. Unable to get back to the boat they are stuck on this island while strange things are happening around them, with the island trying to divide and conquer, can they trust each other?
I really did enjoy this book, although I have liked the others I was not completely sold on the series, but I definately am after this one. With just enough insight into Dex and Perry in a normal setting and secrets shared whilst on the hunt I feel like I'm really starting to know them at lot better. Perry as always is funny, although I still think she's awesome she did make some silly decisions and Dex, well whilst I am still not head over heels for him, this book has made me like him a lot more. Im really looking forward to the next one.

Never read a book that has made me want to carry on reading this much, i love the story, the characters and desperately want to know how the characters relationships progress and what wild adventures happen next. If you are reading this review and have not read any of Karina Halle's experiment in terror books yet then i suggest you download dark house and start your journey..... if you have read the others before this book then why are you reading the review you know this book will be as awesome as the others, get it downloaded :)

Perry and Dex,are off again to investigate the Hauntings on D'Arcy Island, which was a leaper Colony.
disturbing things occur on the desolated island, infact their lives are really put on the line in this case.
You also have the romance interest between Perry and Dex, which is complicated, do they get together as a
couple ? (the author really draws you into these two charicters...you simple must know the latest).
Defiantly worth the read.
