I read this in one sitting - I just couldn't stop.
I adored Daphne in the Beauty & the Beast trilogy. She was the fun, sunshine & light hearted sister who was a great emotional painter. So I was very excited when I finished the third book in that trilogy & read that she was getting her own story.
Unfortunately, I didn't feel like this book met the mark I had set though. I don't know if that is because I had high expectations because I LOVE the Beauty & the Beast trilogy by Amelia, or it was just a bit too slow burn for me. I am inpatient when it comes to romance & prefer instant love over slow burn so this is just my personal opinion.
Emerson, the hero of this story, is a dark & mysterious handsome man who stumbles upon Daphne's art & must own it all. We don't find out much about Emerson except that he has money, & is known for being "the collector" when it come to art. He has two brothers & lives by himself in a two storey home on the beach. But that is about all you find out. There is dark past involving his father & his family, that I am sure will be revealed in the next story. And will probably answer all my questions on why he is so, weird. Yes, Emerson is a weird character. I felt confused when reading about him & was a little lost on his obsession with Daphne. Is it love? Or just that, obsession?
I am looking forward in reading the sequel & seeing where this story goes.
