Wow! I haven’t read a book like this for years and years! Forced marriage, they hate each other till they fall in love… yawn..
Arianna is an Italian mafia princess. Who has been controlled and protected all her life. When she starts sneaking out of the house to meet her boyfriend, (That her dad and brothers hate!) her dad gives her an ultimatum. Marry Killian, an Irish mobster, or a lot older man, who is the Italian head of the mafia. She chooses Killian.
Killian is single and loves it. Never settling down with any woman. No ties. Until Tully tells him the debt that Killian owes him, (What debt?) will be repaid by him marrying Arianna. To say he is not happy, would be putting it mildly! Then when he sees her partying, half naked on social media, he’s really angry. He changes his mind about marrying her, then changes it back.
I started off reading this book, feeling really sorry for Arianna. A life of not being allowed to work, no freedom, no choice in life but to look pretty. Then marrying a caveman, who also controls her and tells all her all these rules, that she has to follow! That soon wore off!!! She acts like a spoilt brat!
There are loads of misunderstandings that could have easily been avoided, if they had only talked to each other. She tries to attack Killian’s sister as he led her to believe it was his girlfriend. She hates his S.O tattoo on his chest, as she thinks it’s a woman’s initials. And it’s his dead brothers. She doesn’t ask him about it, so she stews over it. He’s just as bad! Jumping to conclusions that are wrong all the time!!
I felt exhausted after reading this! Too much angst all the time! They have amazing sex, then go back to screaming at each other! With him stomping off and leaving her, alone in a strange city, without her family! He’s an arse! His family who all said, before they were married, that they would support her. Erm not one of them rang her, invited her round, texted her, nothing!
So back to the sort of storyline. Danoto (?) who she was seeing. Is really working for their arch enemies, and wants her back. He stalks her all over the city, and scares them all. They’re all really terrified of what he will do. That ends really abruptly. And it was a massive letdown. He tells her he loves her, she tells him it back and the end!
Feel really cheated now!! I read through this whole book waiting for the good bits and it’s over!
