3,0 sur 5 étoiles it was ok...

This was an ok one for the most part. I think my biggest issue with this one was that I could feel that these were high school kids throughout the book and I hate that. I still don't understand why authors write these teens running off getting massively drunk, out at the bars/clubs, and having sex like crazy but making them under 18. LOL. I get its fiction, but seriously, this is tagged a lot as a new adult. Why not make them college-age and at least legal to drink?

Anyway, Owen came across like he was going to be this really dark character in the last book and honestly, he was anything but. He's the down-to-earth, trying-to-do-the-right-thing, kind of guy. Tanith, while I think the intention was to have her this hard-working, driven girl, was really kind of needy and immature a lot of the time. I mean the inner dialogue about how she's this scholarship kid started to get old. Did she work hard? Yes. Was she driven? Yes. So why make her literally just bend over when Owen came around? He was awfully rude to her and said some things she should be upset about. But she caved immediately. As soon as she saw him, she was like I know you were rude to me, but let's just have sex. *insert rolling eye* And this is where the book starts to remind me these are high school kids...

I loved the bonus epilogue at the end which is ultimately why I bumped this up to 3 stars. Maybe I'm just in a weird mood because the other two books, I didn't get this feeling from. Either way, I'm committed to the series at this point, so I'm hoping the next book is better.

I mean what isn’t there to like here? An elite, new adult romance that has all of that yummy, Gossip Girl meets Romeo and Juliet style drama- sounds delicious. We have a British alpha with a dirty mouth that made me blush (which isn’t easy) and a witty and focused heroine who despite being nerdy refuses to accept less than she deserves. Lavish parties, interesting and unpredictable secondary characters, romantic NYC and Ibiza settings, over the top high school theatrical angst, and tantalizing teenage drama. And some addictively scorching chemistry and delicious sexual tension. And, best of all? This book is filthy- oh yes, Tanith and Owen lit the kindle on fire. I couldn’t put it down!

Holy smokes-this book is scorching hot! With lush beginnings on a decadent yacht vacation in Ibiza, the stony and stoic Hellfire Club playboy Owen finally notices the nerdy but resolute wall flower Tanith. Problem is Tanith has crushed on him for all three years she’s been at Pembroke- they even run in the same circle- so Owen’s suddenly intense affections feel more insulting than victorious since he doesn’t even remember her. Ouch. Undeterred, however, Owen is obsessed with winning over the girl he accidentally hurt- he’s not holding back.

There is a bit of an instalove factor- or more like instalust, but these two are so explosive and compelling together that I bought right into it. Owen is a delicious leading man- the most mature of his friends, a bit haughty, tight laced and so delightfully British. I love nothing more than a cold and unshakeable being brought to his knees by the most unassuming and unexpected of heroines- here a nerdy bookworm who is all ambition and hard working diligence. Owen is just YUMMY- he softens as he works to worship his goddess Tanith, and she cracks his icey exterior to reveal a deeply passionate and sexy man. Unleashed own is magnetic- and MEOW can this boy talk dirty. Tanith is equally as delightful- an outsider amongst the elite friends she’s found thanks to her scholarship to Pembroke. She’s soft, but she’s also witty and strong- and I love that she knows what she wants and demands it. She makes Owen work for her affection- time and time again- but she also doesn’t deny herself the undeniable draw they have between them. The chemistry feels fated, and even though we have more of a surface level emotional depth, we do have pockets of vulnerability and authentic connection between them. And their physical chemistry MORE than makes up for any emotional brevity- LORD these two are hot together. And, Owen also has some really sweet and swoony moments as he tries to rectify his (many) mistakes when it comes to solidifying his relationship with Tanith. They are as adorable as they are sexy.

This is my first Becker Gray book- and I was really impressed with the writing. The prose is crisp, witty, and really smartly crafted. And the characters are really fantastic. The Hellfire Club guys and the girl gang that embody this world are just so interesting and captivating. I can’t wait for every single characters’ story- young love angst, rich kid shenanigans, and flawed and dramatic characters are a great recipe for an addictive story- and a combination that Becker Gray excels at writing! Looking forward to more from this world!

4,0 sur 5 étoiles The Taming of the Bad Boy

I don’t know what it is about the Hellfire Club series but I just can’t get enough of these books. I mean why should a grown woman want to read about a bunch of elitist high school kids? Perhaps it’s because the characters, at least the male ones seem so much more mature than your typical 18 year old teenagers so it’s easy to forget the high school setting. If I’m being completely honest the heroes start off as complete and utter degenerates but hey, what girl doesn’t love a bad boy? Besides like in all the best stories all they need is the love of a good woman to redeem them and once the Hellfire boys set their sights on their target then it’s game over. Their entire attention is focused on the girl they love until winning her almost becomes an obsession.

In Brutal Blueblood it’s the turn of Owen, known as the Ice King for his cold manner and aloofness. Despite having been in classes with Tanith for three years he’s never so much as noticed her before but now that he has every time he opens his mouth he can’t help but put both feet in it. Some of his words almost made me cringe as I read them and then his complete bewilderment about what had he said that was so wrong left me wanting to slap him. Fortunately Tanith, despite being a scholarship girl, doesn’t stand in awe of any of her peers at the school. She’s a girl who knows her own worth. That she is equal to anyone at Pembroke and won’t settle for being Owen’s dirty little secret even if the sexual chemistry between them is electric. Owen really has to work to win her.

I can’t wait to find out what happened last summer in Aurora and Phin’s story coming next.

I m trying to wrap my mind around this romance. First I been going to school with you for about fours years, we hang pretty much in same circle and now you see me. She was right to feel hurt .too many relationships going with there story. the sex was over the top for how young they were and to be so determined about there career path so young unbelievable. This is truly fantasy.

This was a fun twist in this series. Fast paced and steamy. I like Owen but he sure does have foot in mouth issues. Tannith was nice but a bit too stereotypical scholarship, all work at times.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles I absolutely adore and love Tanith and Owen’s story!!

This is one of those rare gems that shines brighter than the others in this series, in my opinion. I can’t even begin to describe how much I love this one. This author duo continues to blow me away with their ability to create a storyline where ALL the characters are connected yet each book is so different and packed with their emotionally charged plot that sucks me in and saddens me when I reach the end because I am not ready to say goodbye to them.
Owen - this beautiful young man (with a to die for British accent and a very filthy mouth to go with it) is blunt and proficient, but lacks in the tact department. He had me yelling more than once because of the way he said something. Tanith is the rough diamond that is determined to shine herself and did she ever. These two together, holy Hades, they are hotter than the desert at high noon in the middle of July. I adored watching these two fumble their way thru the beginning of relationship and learn to work things out along with growing so much. The sacrifices made, Owen won my heart ten times over. The ups and downs were packed with so much emotion, I was tearing up at the end and doing my happy dance as I saw them get their happily ever after that they fought for.
I adore how the side characters Rhys and Sera had more prominent roles, so I could feel them out better. I am dying for the Rhys and Sera’s story along with Phineas and Aurora’s - I have a feeling that both of these are gonna be emotionally charged.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles Owen and Tanith!!

Tanith has been crushing on Owen since the beginning of high school, however; he has never really noticed her. That is until the summer before senior year when they are on a friend’s yacht. After a disastrous time, she made the decision to attend a Fellowship that she had been granted. It would take her away for the first semester of senior year, but she felt it would be best to leave. Of course, she is trying to avoid Owen when she does arrive back at Pembroke for the second semester, but when most everyone is starting to hook up it makes it difficult to stay away from Own. Owen has decided that he wants a chance with Tanith, but she has written him off after the past summer. Will they be able to figure out how to move past what happened to have something worthwhile? Can the man who is used to always getting what he wants, actually get the girl this time?

I love Tanith. There is just something about her and her extra fire. She is not about to let some guy who thinks he deserves everything he wants to get it. She is independent and just perfect. Owen needed to grow up and I am glad that he was able to get over himself to allow Tanith in. Once these two got together it was fireworks! I always enjoy getting to see the others in the group as we sit back and enjoy each book. There is no shortness of entertainment when the gang is all together.

Wow, what a book. Great story, great characters, a delightful romance with scorching sex. High school wasn’t quite like this for me - but, this was a fun diversion from real life. Aw, the Hellfire Club. So much testosterone, so little hope!

Owen and Tanith are, hands down, my favorite Hellfire Cub HEA.
Pembroke Academy is a luscious mix of the best of Cruel Intentions and Gossip Girls, but with a fiercely loyal protective core of friends at its heart. There's nothing like pent up, unrequited love, especially when it's finally requited by a beautiful, clueless, careless blue blood who doesn't think before he speaks and buys himself endless hours of groveling to fix the mess he made and mend the heart he breaks. And Tanith is the perfect foil for him. A scholarship student on the fringes of popularity, always the observer, Tanith's friendships with the girls who rule the school give a depth to her story that takes it beyond the usual NA Romance.

If you're looking for love with lots of drama and heat, apply to the Hellfire Club. You won't regret it.

This is my 3rd Hellfire Club book and while I liked Keaton’s story and LOVED Lennox’s, I just could not get into this one. While I normally love the arrogant bad boy, I hated how condescending he was towards Tanith and I never felt like he redeemed himself. There is an extended epilogue for this book and even then I still felt they were more friends with benefits than in love with each other.

I kept reading this because I plan on reading the rest of this series as it releases or I would have DNF’d this book. I’m glad I kept reading because we learn more about Rhys, Aurora & Phineas and I loved the Lennox/Sloane moments. This book also touched a lot on Felix, Owen’s brother, and I would like to learn more about him, even read an entire book from his POV because I think there’s more to him than we know.
