The Broken Puppet: The Elite Kings' Club Series, Book 2 Livres audio Audible – Version intégrale
“I thought I knew who I was, but I was wrong.”
I was lied to. I was cheated. Resigned to pick up the scraps of empty memories and disarrayed thoughts, I left. After finally cutting the strings of manipulation, I resorted to do what I’ve done since I was a child, something my father drilled into my brain since I could handle my first rifle.
I’m a mere shadow of the girl they all knew. Lies and deceit change you. They alter your entire outlook on life. I’m Madison Montgomery, and I want to play a game. Here’s what happens when I win.
Riddle me this, Mads. What goes bump in the night, but is something you can’t see with sight? You may run, and you may hide. If by happily ever after, you mean Bonnie & Clyde.

Again there was an attempt at a cliffhanger but this time I just do not care. I have seen authors say that they plan out an entire series before writing it and I do not feel like this happened here. It feels as though it has been made up as it goes along. This is strengthened to me with the inconsistencies and errors.
I read this one to try to see if it would explain a bit more of the gaps in the first one but I won't be continuing. It's like the author wants us to believe that these immature impulsive teenagers are a part of the world's most secretive yet notorious gang that kill people and everyone in the story is in on it but no one cares that babies are killed for being girls... sorry I rant a bit but yeah. Not convincing. Not for me
So. The Broken Puppet picks up right where The Silver Swan left us hanging. The transition from one book to another was done flawlessly, and I loved that it didn't take the story ages to get back into its pace. Personally I hate it when a cliffhanger drags. I'm so glad that it didn't take long to get back to the Elite Kings club mystery. I have to say that the story development yet again is impeccable. Amo Jones' writing style is nothing short of phenomenal and I have to applaud her on her ability to completely transport you into her world. There isn't a single thing I can fault within the plot line and its development. This book is just sublime to read, beyond pleasurable.
Although the story maintains its sexy angsty tension it doesn't contain nearly as much sex as its predecessor. However, it still has this uber hot, suffocating quality to it, and when there is sex it is very much to escalate the bond and ties and emotions that are weaving themselves between characters. Obviously the focus is still very much on Madison and Bishop, however there are lose strings that start winding themselves around other characters and bringing them out to play. The cunning brilliancy of this book is that as much as it answers a lot of questions, it presents a million more in their stead. There are a few topics that are of a dark, sensitive nature and that some people may struggle with... BUT, that is Amo Jones through and through— unapologetic... no fucks given! I'm really trying no to give anything away. It'd be a sin to do so.
Look, I could sit here and go on and on about everything that makes The Broken Puppet a must read. But the reality is that you'd be wasting your time reading it all rather than reading the book for yourself. If there is one series you get into in this lifetime— The Elite Kings needs to be IT. It'll suck you in and break you apart and never ever put you back together quite same again. It'll make you cry, laugh, curse, scream... sweat... wet... Amo Jones has created a masterpiece that Edgar Allan Poe would envy. I mean this has all the dark feels and genius of The Raven... only it has the most infuriating and heart constricting cliffhanger...
Whilst it's not on par with Tijan or Sarah J Mass, it does have potential. The mystery of the plot is gripping and does make the reader want to know what happens.
Annoying parts are the author's constant reference to music and the artist, almost as though she's on commission plugging them! When Tilly goes missing there's no real concern for her, also the fate of another girl at the hands of the Kings, you'd think Madi would be a bit more upset....
And do we really need to know how quick Madi or how many showers she has? These along with the music reference just seem pointless words to fill the page.
Jones has a good plot it just needs the silly immature stuff taken out, when you're writing about sex being rough ie hands round neck till you nearly loose consciences, then the in between needs to be more grown up even though the characters are supposed to be 17.
Will I get the third book? Yes as I really want to know the story of the Kings and the silver swan. I hope it's not an anti climax.
But seriously though.... Every curse word you can think of was spewed outta my mouth!!
Book 2 in the Elite Kings Club series....
This one starts up where Silver Swan left off. Who is she? Who can she trust? Who's going to try and kill her? Where can she go? Can she survive? Questions questions questions... more questions... theeeen moooree!!! A few answers... but more add on questions...
I know you must be thinking what's she rambling on about? Well... I don't wanna give any spoilers because you have just got to read this book!!!! Plus... I'm not sure of anything anymore.... This book is giving me serious trust issues! I was reading it thinking... I have no clues as to what is going on but i LOVE it!!!!
Some questions from Silver Swan were answered but OMG the twists and turns, the ups and downs, the lies and deception, the stomach clinchers, the sick feeling, the sweaty hot awesome lovin, the sweet and tender, the hard and rough, the worries and tension, the gore and murders, i mean these guys throw around death threats like it's going out of fashion, and they mean it!!! And the bleedin questions!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I'm so excited by this series. It's unique and wonderfully written. It takes you right along with the storyline. I mean you are there right along with Madison i feel like my head is going to explode!!
Madison is a fantastic character that you can't help but cheer on. I want her to find the answers! I feel her frustration. She keep's getting knocked down time and time again but she gets right the hell back up again! She's so resilient! This book shows a more tougher, angrier side to her. I think her innocence was well and truly lost for good in Silver Swan but some of her actions prove how far she's come in this book and if she doesn't become the head of the Elite Kings by the end there's something seriously wrong in the book world!!!
Bishop. Her love/enemy is the most confusing character you're ever likely to meet. His issues are way deep in his dark soul but do i love him... nope hate him... nope love him... noooo.... hate him.... ummm he's hot... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't know!! Don't care! He's awesome!! lol
I still have a little soft spot for Nate and i loved how in his own twisted way he had Madison's back in an over-familiar brotherly way.
We also find out more about Brantley... it's pitch black in that area so be aware!! I'm feeling all kinds of churned up about him.
Madison's past really shouldn't have surprised me, but, it really did. It made me feel sick if I'm honest but i thought it was a fantastic twist in the plot.
I will give a little tip that i wished i had done. Please read Silver Swan again before you read this. I think it needs to be fresh in your head so you can handle the twists and turns.
This is not a fluffy easy read. This is a book that needs your full concentration and undivided attention so pay it!! lol
I can't gush a big enough pool to rave about this book. Brilliant!! Awesome!! Fantastic read!!!
