You MUST read this book, but don't forget your box of tissues ! Sad tears, happy tears but so much love...this story reminds you to be strong, to fight when life becomes harder, and to still believe in a better future no matter what. You'll definitely enjoy Sacrifice.

Julia & Crew (& lovely little Ever)

So much sadness on this story. Ever's dad (& Crew's brother) Gage died 2 years ago. Julia blames Crew for her husband's death and is still bitter about the way their own relationship ended years ago. Crew was selfish, 'hedonistic' & more interested in casual hook-ups than a committed relationship.
Then Ever becomes ill and Julia is forced to accept help and support from Crew, who loves his niece. Despite his casual hook ups it becomes apparent that Crew still has feelings for Julia as well as his niece. But can they be together after Julia was married to Crew's brother? Can Julia move on from the way Crew hurt her in the past? And how will Crew get on with the MMA fight he is participating in to raise money to pay for his niece's treatment- when a past injury means its dangerous for him to fight.
There is some casual sex with a different woman in this book. And there is a cliffhanger at the end (resolved in the epilogue) which leaves you on edge and worried about whether there is a HEA......
Great book, lots of emotion, heart & overcoming hardship. And great character progression for Crew.

I wanted to give up on this book at 20%, i wasn’t feeling the characters at all and I was getting frustrated by the meagre flashbacks into their story. But I endured and Crew’s development gripped me. The prayer in the locker-room that give the title to the book moved me.

julia’s character is flat and one-dimensional. She doesn’t evolve. She is a distraught woman who lost her husband, has a very sick daughter and doesn’t have many energies left, which is totally understandable. However her inner dialogues are lack-luster and I couldn’t feel her.

The last 5% of the book, the fight, is really well done with the quick alternation of the PoVs. And I must say that reading THE END and that first Epilogue and half gave me pause. I would have LOVED for this book to not have a HEA, it would have made it so much more real and heart wrenching. But at least it was decidedly bittersweet and I can respect that.

One final thought I had was towards contraceptives. Please, use them. It makes no sense in that situation to say “screw it, falalalala i am in love, let’s get frisky without a care in the world”. No sense for me, at all.

Determination and inner strength

Crew and Gage were brothers. They grew up with help of their single mum, Crew being the cocky one and Gage the sensible one. They had each other's back. Have married and had a daughter Everleigh. The story begins. This book should not be read without Hankies beside you. Crew did the impossible, fight for the money or die and the insurance was there. Not many men would be so brave. A Good book and I recommend you read it.

Then when it feels like life can't get any worse, it inevitably does. Julia is forced to rely on Gage's younger brother Crew, a man who has let her down so many times in the past. But Crew is a fighter, and this is one fight he cannot afford to loose...

Adriana Locke is fast becoming one of my favourite romance authors. I'm pretty late to the game with her books judging by her following, but I'm happy to consider myself one of them now! Sign me up to the fandom! I first discovered her books during a release blitz for Wherever It Leads. I enjoyed the read but didn't get overly excited until I was involved in the blitz for Sway (visit pageonebooks.wordpress.com if you wanna check them out). I was officially hooked, and am now working my way through her entire back catalogue. Enter Sacrifice.

When I say this is action packed, I don't mean in the traditional sense. There's this amazing build to the end, and by the final pages I was on the edge of my seat. It was like I was actually there, at the main event! There's just something about a fighter making a comeback! It actually reminded me of Southpaw, just with a touch more tragedy. If you haven't seen it, you definitely should, Kurt Sutter is king.

The Exception here I come! I can't wait!

Great romance read

Crew, a man who is troubled with guilt over the death of his brother, with the way he dealt with things when his mother passed and with Julia, his first and only love who he let go.

Julia, didn't grow up with an easy life. Terrible parents. Finally gets some happiness with Gage, married with a daughter. However Gage is cruelly taken from her. She's coping with daily struggles, making payments on her bills, being a single parent, having no one to be there for her. If it couldn't get any worse for Julia, your wrong. I felt a strong liking for Julia's character, her strength and determination was mesmerising.

This story was heartbreaking, very emotional but also beautiful.

I was scared to go on, preparing for Crew, Julia and Ever's fate was torture!!! Every turn of the page, nail biting.

This book puts so much into perspective. Makes you really think about things... Life. Don't live with regrets, take each day as it comes. Stay strong.

Absolutely loved this book, would recommend it to everyone who loves a good romance, also plenty of tension and torture on the heart!!!!

If you like anything from Kirsty Moseley then you will love this.
