This amazing book covers how to influence people and enhance your own ability to influence others no matter what situation you are in.
The book touches on a core component of human interaction, building strong relationships. It is no wonder why. The author has explained ten unmistakable traits of the best influencers and 10 techniques of influencing people. I have bought the kindle version of the book and read it few times already. It is a wonderful source of knowledge, experience and techniques etc that makes this book an essential part of someone’s life who loves to influence others.
Everything that we do hinges on our ability to connect with others and formulate deep relationships. You cannot sell a house, buy a house, advance in most careers, sell a product, pitch a story, teach a course, etc. without building healthy relationships. Managers get the best results from their teams, not through brute force, but to careful appeals to their sensibilities, occasional withdrawals from the reservoir of respect they’ve built. Using these tactics, they can influence others to excellence, to productivity, and to success.
To influence people in a positive way, be authentic. Rather than being a carbon copy of someone else’s version of authenticity, uncover what it is that makes you unique.
Discover your unique take on an issue and then live up to and honor that. Once of the reasons social media influencers are so powerful is that they have carved out a niche for themselves or taken a common issue and approached it from a novel or uncommon way. People instinctually appreciate people whose public persona matches their private values.
To positively influence others, you must listen to what is spoken and what is left unsaid. Therein lies the explanation for what people need in order to feel validated, supported and seen. I got as far as Christiano Renaldo and Lionell Messi putting themselves in the shoes of the millions watching them... And threw the book across the room. Absolutely sporting hero's that have built a strong work ethic on top of God given talent. Motivated by fame, glory and adulation... NOT empathy and mutual understanding as claimed in this book.
Not many of these styles of books teach anything new but the best ones package concepts up into case studies and stories that demonstrate the concepts and aid understanding. Prompting the reader to relate to their own experiences. This is NOT one of the better ones. From the quarter way I got, it'll open with a name drop like Ronald Reagan, but then do very little but state and give a dictionary definition of the concept.
There are much better books out there.
For me personally as a non confrontational person. Reading this guide really helped me with being assertive and how to say NO when I need to!
The intro says something about only 5% of humans know the truth about successful influencing which truly shocked me! I never thought it was that uncommon! This is a great introduction which gets your excited to read the entirety of the guide. It also talks about the characteristics of influencers! That’s all I’m saying so I don’t spoil the whole thing for you, but if you’re intrigued read it and find out!
